RHR is in, Roger Yasukawa is a familar name but I can't remember why. Raffa Matos, Dario at the front in DP, Ryan Briscoe, Scott Dixon, "Mad" Max Pappis, Darren Manning, Dan Weldon, Justin Wilson, Buddy Rice ...

Michael Valiante and Ryan Dalziel have found a home in this series after running odd shots in Champ Car, 'dinger in a DP and Seabastien Bourdais apparently had an accident overnight.

I was more struck with the numbers of juniors I remember over the years getting a shot in this race with guys like Jonathan Bomarito, Dane Cameron, John Edwards, Brad Jaeger, Brian Sellers, Jeroen Bleekemolen, Sean McIntosh (both ex A1GP), John Pew (Star-Mazda Master campaigner) and local boy Mike Forest, whose dad used to race against Gilles Villenueve in Atlantics back when I was a kid.

I'm not sure if that is an attempt at droll humor on your part, but if it's not...

Roger kicked around in the IndyCar Series for a few years ('03 @ Aguri Fernandez / '04, 2 races @ RLR / '05 @ D&R) and has done Indy &/or Motegi each year since.

While I like to toss in some humour in my posts, this wasn't one of those times. The name rang a bell, but I honestly couldn't place a reason why it was familiar to me. Thanks to you I have cleaned out a few cobwebs in my otherwise overloaded brain. Thanks!

Funny, I was out of town for a while and when I came back to this thread I too was wondering why Roger Yasukawa's name was so familiar. As I scroll down I see Rogers merits and I too now remember why he was familiar.

Sad that some of these drivers manage to get near top level yet we forget them so soon after they are out of the spotlight.
