Amen... to media hogging.

A story this summer we ran from one of our services... Had to be corrected. Why ? Because Schumacher's website wasn't as clearly indicated as they wanted it to be.

At the time I thought.... So this is what it has come to... Where a driver is more interested in hits on his website than getting a particular quote out.

Don't let anyone be fooled... It's clear to us that Schumacher and his team are very interested in keeping him in the spotlight. Anyone want to guess whether he'll make more from his salary or endorsements & souvenirs this year ?

I personally believe his return to F1 is strictly a business decision for Schumacher Inc.

It could well be, but I'm not sure it's a good one.

He is turning alot of tifosi against him now and they are the backbone of Schumacher Inc. Tifosi looked at Schumacher as their saint and their guy, not someone else's. I'm not sure he will be able to make up for their loss with new fans.

I really have mixed feelings about this return, but as I said before, I think he is doing this to Monty for being thrown out of the Ferrari seat...

I know Schui's situation/legend is slightly different than past drivers but....
the tifosi feel pretty much the same about any other ex drivers.

^Agreed.

Ferrari fans may think they own Shumacher, but race fans without red tinted vision should also associate him with Mercedes. I know I do. I remember Micheal coming up through the ranks with Mercedes, and winning with them in the WordSportscar series. This is a natural fit for me. Plus, he's German. It's not like he ever exuded the Ferrari vibe.

My red tinted vision aside, I don't think that to many Schummi fans will remember his WorldSportsCar series days and those that do will probably not see any real Mercedes connection from it. This is F1, not sports cars.

As far as a Ferrari vibe, while Schummi didn't exude a real Latin flair or the famous Italian drama of some other drivers, he did bleed Ferrari red and was the model of team player. He lived for this team and I think he truly loved Ferrari more than almost any other modern day driver I can think of...And the tifosi loved him for it...

The thing about Shumi, you always know how much he loves what he's doing and that he's tickled pink when he wins. Sure, he'll get tons of money, but I think that only sweetens the thrill he gets from the sport. He's ticked me off on many occasions, but I can't help but like the guy! No matter how well he does or doesn't do, it should be fun watching.

Quoting myself... and quoting latest news from Bild....

Quote:
Bild said Weber will work on attracting more sponsors for Schumacher, whose existing commercial deals are reported to have already nearly quadrupled his EUR7 million Mercedes retainer for 2010.

That's $40.6 million U.S. dollars, and he hasn't even turned a wheel.

hmmm....any updates here now we have a bit of hindsight after 2 months?...Ross says he fancies Tricky for the 2010 drivers title because Herr Micky is well fired up to give Lewi Shamilton a good bashing!!!! Truth is, Micheal would rather fernando win the next 5 world titles than Lewize!

close but no banana for you matey!!! He only stayed on at Ferrari in this "consultancy role" to develop the road cars and promote the FIA anti drugs/drink/using a mobile phone/eating an apple/peanuts/crisps/lobster thermidore and herb roasted potatoes with sugar bo!!ox at the wheel of a car inspired of course as you say by Luca deciding to replace him with Raikks the Yikes!!!! But Luca would not have let him go if he thought he could cut the mustard out there! Maybe LdM has been hasty to judge, or maybe he has just a regular belief that Alonso IS the best driver out there! we shall see but Tricky is going to be on the pace for sure! #....i think age with experience is going to make him very difficult to dominate by anybody!

Yes, driving a road car is certainly not as fun as it used to be, eh?
