Well, Danica will get her 2nd start in the Nationwide Series this weekend at Auto Club Speedway (Fontana). I look for a much better result from her this time. Hopefully no one will crash her out.
The race is Saturday, Feb. 20th at 5pm Eastern on ESPN2.

Congrats to Kyle Busch for the win. I feel bad for Joey Logano though.
Danica finished 31st. She did run the whole race which is good.

Danica was slow and 3 laps down. At times she was 2 seconds off the pace on a track that takes 40 seconds to get around. Not a good showing at all IMO.

It would probably do her a world of good to go out and get herself
a fast latemodel sportsman dirt car,put a huge engine in it, go to a fast dirt track to practice----------like a mini vacation ![]() |

She was not fast, and she did not finish high. Hopefully she learned a bit about racing 300 miles on a big banked oval with a bunch of guys who do it all the time and do it as well as anybody on the planet.
People who need to hate Danica to compensate will claim this shows she is no good. people who need to love Danica for some other reasons will claim she did well no matter what she did. Whatever. No one is telling the guys she finished ahead of, that they suck and should quit because they finished behind her. And no one (rational) expected her to do much more than she did. If, in two years, when her AA contract is up, she can convince people to give her a full-time ride in NWide or Cup, it will be because she learned to drive those cars in races like these. Right now she is an IndyCar driver dabbling in NASCAR, running her third (count to three) race in a stock car, and anyone who is surprised that she didn't beat the veterans is a little deluded I think. Let's talk about it in a year or so, and see if she has improved. |
