Thumbs up Grand Am At Barber!

Wow, did anyone catch that race?

What a duel between Gurney, Pruett and Valiente! They went hard at the lead for the last 20 minutes providing fans with some of the best road racing to be seen anywhere. I mean it was an awesome display of skill!

You might not like the cars, but they do put on a great show. The drivers in this series are top notch to. The championship is now neck-and-neck and it should be close the rest of the way.

So anybody see it?

Gee, I was a total sports car geek this weekend!

I watched the race, and enjoyed it. Except for the last really long yellow, though, it was a runaway: Gainsco 24 seconds ahead of Telmex ten seconds ahead of Shank racing.

Then there was a yellow (a real one) which gave the fans a twenty-minute shootout.

It seemed to me that SPEED covers Grand Am pretty well; I actually saw some GT cars.

Real shame to see Penske out early. I hear he is not coming back because of constant rule-change jerk-arounds, and when he finally had a chance to run well under existing rules ....

I would watch lawnmowers race if Leigh Diffey, the Speed announcer for both the ALMS and GARRA, is calling the race. He is simply the best in the business IMO.

And Speed does give good overall coverage of GARRA, ALMS and F1. These days, that's pretty much the only reason to watch Speed. If your interested, you can see my rant against Speed Channel here -
