Talking Long Beach?

Isn't there an ALMS race at Long Beach this weekend?????????????
And speaking of ALMS (or not!) what about Rocketsports announcement of a Jag GT2 effort starting in with July racing!

Yeah, it seems to have gone quiet on the sports car board here. I am happy to see that the car count is back up to 21 this weekend. GT1 has the Vettes back for LB!

Long Beach race starts any minute ... but won't be televised 'til tomorrow. I will have to leave work, come home and turn on the VCR and return to work and watch it at midnight or something.

ALMS is still my favorite series. Went to St. Pete, might go to Petit Le Mans.

GT2 is definitely the class to watch for this part of the season. I think Creation might field a P1 after Le Mans. Dyson will eventually get the Lola-Mazdas working. And the addition of Porsche Cup will at least create a lot of traffic issues, if nothing else.

Funny, ALMS is broadcast on ABC, IRL on Versus, but IRL seems to be the series everyone knows and cares about.

ABC seems to only be concerned with ALMS
I'm considering Petit myself...since Audi and I think Puegot will be there

Yeah...I seem to have not been terribly enthusiastic in any of my board postings this year...Sebring was a great race, dunno about the rest of the year...sure - the cars on track will be great but hopefully some others can join at some stage...interesting to see how the rest of the year goes with those GT3 and Cup cars racing...

Saying that the Acuras do seem to be putting on a good show...

And I hope we all enjoyed the last race for the GT1 Corvettes in the ALMS - shame they couldn't get both cars to the finish

Lets hope post Le Mans they can get something going.

We have heard of the Rocketsports Jag, plus we could have the Creation, Eco, Corsa, Mundill Pescarolo all racing...and maybe someone could convince Gunner to bring the Van Der Steur Radical out again...

In any case - Utah will be interesting for a number of reasons...

50-50 shot at best for me to be at Petit. My dad lives in Rome, GA, but travelling with a four month old may be an issue.

my 4 month (almost 5 month ) traveled to Italy so daddy could go to Imola
Honestly imo, when they are that young (less than 6 months). They're less mobile and just want to eat/sleep. Wouldn't think of traveling long distance with a 1 - 1 1/2 year old, whose either crawling, walking or can't sit still.
Plus you need a wife whose willing to help out too. Don't do it alone.
Hope you can make it. It's still up in the air for me.
I've never been there and if I go it'll probably be a road trip (car)

Yeah, if I go it will be drive there, sleep under a tarp next to the car, and shower at the public facilities. But Petit brings out all the big guns, the new teams, plus the regulars, and it is a long enough race that I will have time to see every corner.

Plus I was so sick I couldn’t go to Sebring, even though I had made arrangements; so I really want to see the Audi and Peugeot and see a real endurance race up close and personal.

Diamonddave (just because I am curious) did your child need ear protection? That would be my main worry if I had an infant at a race, I think.

she didn't actually go to the race. My buddy and his 2 sons went with, the wives and daughters went sight seeing. YES!!! absolutely bring ear protection for kids (under teenagers). Just because it sounds okay to you doesn't mean it won't do damage to their young ears.
My daughter has been to the Mile and Road America, each time I make her wear ear phones (good ones).
I witnessed at Imola 06 young kids without any hearing protection. This was the 1st year of the V8's and their 19-20K redline. Trust me, I almost cried it was so loud and painful compared to the V10's the years before.
the Honda's were the worst!

Here's the problem with that idea- my wife is a bigger race fan than me and would give me he11 for going without her (ala Milwaukee and Richmond last year...I never heard the end of it )

Always been the plan for us when we will take him to IndyCar or sports car races. My concern is finding ear phones that would fit a 4-month old. Lot of money to shell out if he uses them 2-3 times and then outgrows them.
Oh well, I'm sure I'll start researching the issue soon.

Hey!!!

My name is Vince, I live in France and I'm a BIG fan of the American Le Mans Series.

I'm sure that the 2009 Utah Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach has been very EXCITING.

But please, I have something to ask : is someone sells a program of this race?! Because I would like to collect all the programs issued in 2009 (and ALL the previous years) concerning the ALMS races.
Of course, I'm OK to give money in order to buy this program + postage to France.
However, I would be very glad to trade programs against items concerning the 24 Hours of Le Mans (because I'm going to this race every year).

So, if someone is interested in my offer, don't hesitate to concact me.

Bye and have a very nice day

Vince
